--3B Brian Barden's fourth-inning double snapped a nothing-for-14 slump. He had been NL Rookie of the Month for April but had seemed to be pressing in irregular duty in May.
--SS Khalil Greene has been swinging the bat with authority since his forearm strain has healed. Greene extended his hitting streak to five games with a ninth-inning single. --2B Skip Schumaker, who had been 2-for-17, has hit safely in six straight games. He doubled in his first two at-bats on Sunday. He looked a bit shaky in the field on Saturday, making a couple of off-balance throws, but had a better day on Sunday before having to come out of the game.
MEDICAL WATCH:
CF Rick Ankiel (sore right shoulder, head) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 5.
INF Brendan Ryan (left hamstring strain) went on the 15-day disabled list April 30. He will start a rehab assignment with Class AAA Memphis during the week of May 11-17.
RHP Chris Carpenter (torn left oblique muscle) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He is scheduled to throw a bullpen session May 12. Carpenter is likely out six to eight weeks.
3B Troy Glaus (right shoulder surgery in January 2009) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He didn't heal as quickly as was hoped, and he may not play before July.
LHP Jaime Garcia (Tommy John elbow surgery in September 2008) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He likely will miss all or nearly all of the 2009 season.
