--RHP Kyle Lohse, who twisted his right knee in a fielding play at first base on Thursday, won't miss his next start, said manager Tony La Russa. Lohse said he "took about six treatments," after having an MRI. But he will not throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

--A week ago in Chicago, 3B Joe Thurston struck out in a potential bunting situation -- runners at first and second and no outs. The same situation arose Friday in the fifth inning. Allowed again to hit, Thurston doubled in two runners, went to third on the throw home and scored on a single by 2B Skip Schumaker.

"This time it worked," said Tony La Russa, "because Joe made it work."

--RHP Adam Wainwright maintained his eight-game winning streak, dating to last season. He is 2-0 with two no-decisions this year.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Kyle Lohse (twisted right knee) was hurt during the April 23 game. He had an MRI on April 24 and is not expected to miss his next start.

RHP Chris Carpenter (torn left oblique muscle) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He is likely out six to eight weeks.

3B Troy Glaus (right shoulder surgery in January 2009) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He didn't heal as quickly as was hoped, and he may not play before July.

LHP Jaime Garcia (Tommy John elbow surgery in September 2008) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He likely will miss all or nearly all of the 2009 season.
