The Phillies and Cardinals engaged in an old-fashioned slugfest Tuesday night. The offenses combined for 26 hits, twelve for extra bases, including Albert Pujolss 10th home run. The Philies, however, managed four more hits, and that made the difference as they won 10-7. Thats the fifth time in 24 games the Phillies scored 10 runs or more. Thats tied with Boston and Toronto for most 10 run games in the majors. Not surprisingly, the Phillies lead the NL in runs per game (2nd in the majors) and are over half a runner better than the second place team, the Cardinals .
With the Marlins loss, the Phillies move into first place in the NL East.
