Glaus checks out OK after hospital visit
LOS ANGELES (AP) - St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Troy Glaus was back in the lineup on Sunday after a brief bout with stomach pains, which forced him out of a game the night before and resulted in a trip to the hospital.

Glaus was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning of the Cardinals' 4-0 victory and subsequently taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. Before he left the clubhouse, he mentioned that he was having trouble standing up. But the 2002 World Series MVP was in good spirits Sunday morning.

"It's something I've never felt before, so obviously you're going to have to be a little bit alarmed," said Glaus, who spent slightly more than an hour at the hospital. "It looked like it kind of peaked and wasn't really getting worse for about an hour or an hour and a half, and that made me feel a little bit more comfortable."

Glaus said the pain had subsided sometime around midnight before he checked out of the hospital, and he was not given any medication.

"They ran the whole battery of tests - blood test, ultrasound, all that," Glaus said. "It was all precautionary. They could tell me what it wasn't, but not what it was. It could have been anything. But everybody over there was fantastic and got us through there as seamlessly and quickly as they could."

Glaus has played in all but one of the Cardinals' first 52 games. He is batting .276 with two homers and 32 RBIs.
