ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals will open their 2009 spring training schedule on one of the earliest dates in recent history, playing an exhibition against Saint Louis University on Feb. 23.
The Cardinals announced the opener on Friday. The games are starting earlier because of the World Baseball Classic, set to begin on March 5.St. Louis opened on Feb. 27 last year, also playing Saint Louis in an exhibition.
